About This Role
- Lead engineering teams to design, build, and operate Walmart's core large-scale data platforms supporting analytics and AI workloads globally.
- Own engineering roadmap, technical execution, and delivery of scalable, high-throughput data services using Java, Python, Spark, and Big Data technologies.
- Recruit, mentor, and build a high-performing engineering culture while establishing standards and driving continuous improvement in platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
Minimum Requirements
- 12+ years professional software engineering experience including building large-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
- 4+ years engineering leadership experience managing teams and leading complex technical deliveries.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, Spark and strong experience with Big Data ecosystems (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, etc.).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in hands-on engineering leadership in 0-to-1 environments with end-to-end ownership of data platform lifecycles.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native engineering, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and production operations for petabyte-scale data systems.
- Strong collaborator able to partner with product, ML, and platform teams and improve engineering velocity by applying AI/ML capabilities pragmatically.
