About This Role
- Own end-to-end design, build, deployment, monitoring, and operation of scalable production data pipelines supporting analytics and decision-making.
- Make architecture and system design decisions on data models, including transaction-level fact tables with rigorous data quality/audit controls within finance, risk, or compliance domains.
- Use Python and complex cross-dialect SQL to implement and maintain pipelines with strong emphasis on accuracy, auditability, and lineage using Uber’s internal tools and medallion architecture.
Minimum Requirements
- 6+ years of data engineering experience.
- Expert-level Python and SQL skills (MySQL + PostgreSQL) with experience in complex queries, window functions, and CTEs.
- Experience with production ownership of data pipelines including design, deployment, monitoring, and operations.
- Experience working with finance, risk, or compliance data domains requiring high accuracy, auditability, and data lineage.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong data architecture and system design capabilities focused on scalable data models, partitioning, and medallion architectures.
- Experience building immutable transaction/append-only fact tables with robust data quality controls such as validation, reconciliation, and anomaly detection.
- Hands-on experience with orchestration tools (Airflow or Uber’s Piper/uWorc) and CI/CD workflows using Git in complex data engineering environments.
