Job description
Structured overview of role & requirements
About This Role
- Develop embedded firmware for Battery Management Systems across module, rack, and system tiers including drivers, RTOS integration, bootloader, and secure firmware updates.
- Implement battery protection safety logic and algorithms for state-of-charge, health, and power estimation including contactor control and fault diagnostics with event logging.
- Support lab validation, certification testing, field commissioning, and improve firmware using field data; ensure safety compliance from hazard analysis to testing.
Minimum Requirements
- B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or Embedded Systems from a premier institute.
- 4 to 7 years of experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in BMS, EV, power electronics, or industrial control systems.
- Strong skills in embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers and RTOS experience (e.g. FreeRTOS); familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, and debugging tools like JTAG and oscilloscopes.
- Solid knowledge of lithium-ion battery fundamentals or signal processing/estimation (e.g. Kalman filtering) is highly preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in developing safety-critical firmware that meets delivery timelines for complex battery systems deployed on utility grids.
- Demonstrates strong expertise in embedded system programming with RTOS and low-level hardware interfacing for industrial controls.
- Practical knowledge of battery algorithm tuning and safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508, ISO 26262) along with automated testing and continuous integration workflows.
