About This Role
- Design, build, and operate distributed platform services and APIs for Walmart’s Global Data Foundation team, focusing on high-throughput data pipelines and scalable systems.
- Own platform reliability, scalability, observability, and operational excellence including SLO/SLA management, incident response, and service-level improvements.
- Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and establish engineering standards in system architecture, design, and production readiness within a newly formed team.
Minimum Requirements
- 8+ years professional software engineering experience with strong hands-on proficiency in Java and Python.
- Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep experience with microservices, distributed systems, domain-oriented design (DDD), cloud-native engineering including Kubernetes and CI/CD.
- Experience with Big Data technologies including Spark and familiarity with Hadoop/HDFS, Hive, or Kafka.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced Staff-level engineer capable of operating autonomously in 0-to-1 environments with strong ownership and technical judgment.
- Proficient in integrating AI/GenAI/Agentic technologies into production platforms, with hands-on experience in MLOps and AI-assisted tooling.
- Skilled in driving operational and engineering excellence practices including monitoring, incident triage, capacity planning, and reliability engineering at scale.
