About This Role
- Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed platform services and APIs using Java, Python, and Kubernetes or equivalent cloud-native infrastructure.
- Own platform reliability, scalability, observability, and incident response including SLO/SLA management and operational excellence practices.
- Set technical direction, architecture standards, and mentor engineers across multiple teams within a newly formed platform organization focused on AI and data infrastructure at Walmart scale.
Minimum Requirements
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, strong hands-on coding in Java and Python.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience with microservices, distributed systems, domain-oriented design, cloud-native engineering (Kubernetes, CI/CD), and Big Data technologies including Spark.
- Experience with AI/GenAI integration, operational excellence including incident management and SLO/SLA ownership is required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced Principal-level engineer comfortable operating autonomously in 0-to-1 environments and setting technical standards without direct management authority.
- Strong system design and judgment skills with ability to translate ambiguous technical/business challenges into clear execution plans.
- Hands-on practitioner in both platform engineering and data engineering domains, capable of collaborating effectively with data scientists and ML engineers on AI-driven platform capabilities.
