About This Role
- Own end-to-end frontend delivery for Mercari's large-scale web applications including problem definition, AI-assisted prototyping, implementation, release, and production support with observability and rollback.
- Develop and optimize web experience focusing on rendering strategy, Core Web Vitals, and SEO, primarily using React and Next.js technologies.
- Act as frontend specialist enabling cross-platform teams (backend, iOS, Android, QA) by reviewing web changes, setting technical standards, and participating in architecture and planning discussions.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of frontend experience specifically with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js including hands-on knowledge of App Router and SSR.
- Experience developing and operating large-scale web products with a strong focus on performance, scalability and Core Web Vitals.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, cross-browser compatibility, and Git version control especially within monorepo structures.
- Skillful use of AI coding assistants along with strong communication; alignment with Mercari Group's mission and values required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced frontend engineer with deep specialization in React/Next.js and large-scale web product architecture, comfortable working beyond frontend boundaries as needed.
- Able to lead technical frontend planning and prototyping to drive quick, informed decisions and unblock cross-platform development teams.
- Familiar with AI-assisted development, performance optimization, SEO concerns, and modern CI/CD tooling in cloud environments (preferably Google Cloud).
