About This Role
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data platforms and interactive development tools (e.g. Jupyter Notebooks, SQL editors) to support data exploration and analytics across key eBay categories.
- Build and operate backend services and APIs to manage data workflows, user sessions, and distributed compute resources with technologies like Spark, Hadoop, and cloud infrastructure.
- Leverage AI coding agents to improve software development lifecycle including design, testing, debugging, and maintenance of production-quality data engineering solutions.
Minimum Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related roles.
- Proficient in Python, Java, or similar programming languages and experience with SQL and large-scale data pipelines.
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Flink.
- Familiarity with building backend services, REST APIs, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Codex, Claude Code).
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in creating internal developer platforms or self-service analytics tools that improve data accessibility for cross-functional teams.
- Skilled at integrating and orchestrating data workflows using tools like Apache Airflow or similar scheduling systems.
- Strong technical communication ability to collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product teams, with a focus on improving developer productivity using AI tools.
