Structured overview of role & requirements
About This Role
- Lead the technical architecture and roadmap for robot simulation platforms, including physics, sensor models, scenario orchestration, and validation for UR cobots and MiR mobile robots.
- Develop and validate high-fidelity robot models and establish sim-to-real validation methods linking simulation to integration and fleet performance.
- Architect scalable, GPU-accelerated simulation systems for reinforcement learning, synthetic data generation, multi-agent, and fleet-level simulation; mentor engineers and represent the Bangalore simulation team globally.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.
- Minimum 12 years of professional software engineering experience with at least 7 years in simulation, physics engines, or robotics systems.
- Expert-level proficiency in C++ and strong Python skills; hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 and robot description formats like URDF, SDF, MJCF, or USD.
- Experience with robotics simulation environments (e.g., Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, Gazebo, Drake, Webots); must be Bangalore local, no relocation or visa sponsorship provided.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Senior technical leader with a strong background in architecting and delivering large performance-critical robotics simulation systems.
- Experienced in GPU-accelerated simulation, physics engines tuning, sim-to-real transfer, multi-agent and fleet-scale simulations, and integration with reinforcement or imitation learning pipelines.
- Able to influence cross-site teams, mentor engineers effectively, and translate real deployment challenges into advanced simulation capabilities.
