Job description
Structured overview of role & requirements
About This Role
- Own the interaction design and micro-animation layer of the OS, including transitions, feedback, gestures, states, and sensory feedback methods like sound and haptics.
- Define and maintain a consistent interaction language and build an interaction library covering reusable patterns, motion principles, and timing across multiple input methods (touch, trackpad, keyboard, stylus).
- Prototype and collaborate with engineers to implement and refine interactions ensuring high design fidelity and performance considerations are met.
Minimum Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating interaction design and motion/micro-animation craft.
- Approximately 5 years of experience across UI, UX, and interaction design.
- Four-year or Graduate Degree in Design, Human Factors Engineering, Social Sciences research, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with prototyping tools (Figma, Principle, ProtoPie, After Effects) and experience working with engineering teams on implementation.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in defining interaction languages and interaction libraries for complex OS-level or multi-modal platforms combining multiple input modes.
- Skilled at balancing design judgment with usability, focusing on when motion enhances hierarchy, feedback, continuity, or delight versus simplicity.
- Capable of leading interaction design from concept through to engineering implementation with strong communication and collaboration skills across product, design, and engineering teams.
