About This Role
- Lead backend and platform initiatives from problem definition through design, rollout, and operation, managing dependencies and technical risks.
- Design and improve resilient distributed services, data pipelines, and APIs focused on scalability, data correctness, and handling external platform constraints.
- Own production health through observability, safe releases, incident investigation, performance tracking, and mentor senior engineers while providing technical leadership.
Minimum Requirements
- 8-9 years of backend development experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong production Python expertise with capability in concurrent/asynchronous code design, implementation, testing, profiling, and debugging.
- Deep practical understanding of distributed systems concepts, API design, relational databases, cloud-based backend operation, CI/CD, observability, and security best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience leading complex backend initiatives across multiple services or teams with sustained ownership in production environments.
- Hands-on expertise using coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) for multi-step software development and verification.
- Comfortable balancing delivery speed, system longevity, and infrastructure cost; capable of influencing decisions through technical writing and mentoring senior engineers.
