About This Role
- Own full lifecycle of a core database feature: design data model, APIs, implementation, and production support with defined SLOs and runbooks.
- Lead cross-functional technical efforts, resolve ambiguity, balance immediate shipping needs with long-term system health, and ensure high code and design standards.
- Mentor engineers on Postgres internals, distributed systems, and AI agentic workload patterns; operate as escalation point for complex problems and critical decisions.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems, databases, or cloud data infrastructure in production.
- Strong working knowledge of Postgres internals including query planning, MVCC, WAL, replication, and experience running Postgres under real load.
- Proficiency in C or C++ systems programming plus at least one higher-level language such as Go, Ruby (strong plus), or Python.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent depth demonstrated via production work.
