Job description
Structured overview of role & requirements
About This Role
- Own end-to-end design, development, deployment, and monitoring of OCR, VLM, and Document AI systems focusing on extracting structured, reliable data from healthcare documents.
- Architect and optimize model and rule-based OCR/VLM pipelines balancing extraction quality, latency, hallucination risk, and cost.
- Lead evaluation frameworks, annotation guidelines, and production engineering including CI/CD, testing, and resource-efficient inference for scalable AI workflows.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/MS/M.Sc. from IIT, IISc, IIIT, BITS Pilani or comparable in CS, EE, AI, Data Science, Math, Statistics or related quantitative field.
- 5-8 years of hands-on experience owning real production systems in OCR, Vision-Language Models, Document AI or applied computer vision.
- Strong programming skills in Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow/Keras, NumPy and OpenCV with production-level engineering experience including Docker, FastAPI, CI/CD.
- Demonstrable expertise in text detection/recognition, transformer OCR, VLM schema-constrained extraction, LLM/VLM fine-tuning (SFT, LoRA/QLoRA), multimodal RAG and agentic AI systems.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Technically deep AI engineer with significant experience shipping production OCR/VLM or Document AI systems and defending design/evaluation trade-offs.
- Comfortable operating across end-to-end stack from preprocessing scanned documents through to deployment, monitoring, and testing in production healthcare AI environments.
- Experienced in interdisciplinary AI tooling (multimodal embeddings, vector search, agent orchestration) and rigorous evaluation harnesses for continuous improvement and reliability.
