Structured overview of role & requirements
About This Role
- Design, develop, execute, and automate test plans for Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking features and platform-level system validation including hardware bring-up, forwarding-path verification, and failover scenarios.
- Develop and enhance Python-based test automation frameworks (preferably PyTest) and automate use of traffic generation/analyzing tools such as Spirent or Ixia for functional, performance, and scale testing.
- Analyze and debug complex failures across software, hardware, and network layers; collaborate with engineering teams for root cause analysis and support customer escalations by reproducing and validating fixes.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
- 2–5 years of experience in networking, platform, or system-level product validation/QA.
- Strong Python test automation skills with frameworks like PyTest; experience in automating test infrastructure and using traffic generators (Spirent, Ixia).
- Onsite work from HPE office location is mandatory.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience validating Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols and features including VLANs, LAG/LACP, spanning-tree, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, and multicast concepts.
- Capability to test and troubleshoot full platform and system solutions covering control-plane/data-plane interactions and high-availability scenarios (failover, redundancy, recovery).
- Proven ability to debug complex multi-layer networking systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams for issue resolution.
