About This Role
- Manage mainframe storage environments focusing on DASD and Tape including configuration, migration, allocation, backup, recovery, and capacity management in z/OS systems.
- Troubleshoot storage-related issues such as space abends, dataset allocation failures, and catalog inconsistencies; generate reports (SMF, DCollect, BVIR) to support capacity planning and operations.
- Recommend modernization and storage optimization strategies while engaging with clients and internal stakeholders across diverse industries.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 8+ years experience in Mainframe Storage Administration with DASD and tape management in mainframe environments.
- Strong working knowledge of z/OS (MVS), DFSMS components (DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, DFSMSRMM), TSO/ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, catalogs, datasets (PS/PDS/PDSE/GDG), REXX, SAS, SDSF, and spool.
- Experience with CA products (CA Disk, CA Allocate, CA-1), FDR products, Omegamon XE or similar monitoring tools, ICKDSF, storage device management, and troubleshooting storage performance and availability issues.
- Work location flexibility includes ability to support customer hours in US, Europe, and Asia Pacific regions, including weekends and holidays as on-call staff.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced storage specialist with demonstrated hands-on administration and troubleshooting in complex multi-LPAR mainframe environments with strong command over DASD and tape management.
- Capable of interacting with global clients in different industry sectors and recommending storage modernization initiatives.
- Comfortable working in cross-geographical time zones and customer-support environments requiring on-call availability.
