About This Role
- Build and own integrations for multiple communication channels including WhatsApp Business Platform, telephony (SIP/PSTN), web chat widget, and in-app/web voice and video over WebRTC, managing them end to end including production support.
- Design and implement a unified, channel-agnostic conversation layer that enables session and message handling across switching channels and different media types (text, voice, video, images, documents).
- Develop and maintain real-time streaming infrastructure (WebSockets/WebRTC), ensure message delivery reliability including retries and monitoring, and ship the web widget as a secure, embeddable product.
Minimum Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience building and running backend or full-stack production systems with end-to-end ownership of at least one service.
- Strong programming skills in at least one of: Python, Go, Node.js/TypeScript, or Java and ability to read others.
- Experience integrating at least one messaging or communication channel (e.g., WhatsApp Business API, telephony/CPaaS like Twilio) including handling webhooks and provider-specific quirks.
- Working knowledge of distributed event-driven systems, realtime protocols (WebSockets), API and data model design (SQL/NoSQL).
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced engineer comfortable owning complex, asynchronous systems that integrate multiple external communication providers and their failure modes.
- Skilled in building and designing scalable real-time messaging infrastructures and APIs used by internal teams and enterprise customers.
- Strong production instincts with ability to debug live incidents using telemetry and detailed documentation, capable of raising engineering quality bar for event-driven systems.
