About This Role
- Design, build, and automate streaming data products transforming Kafka event streams into trusted, consumer-grade data assets using platforms like Flink.
- Implement and operate real-time pipelines for data transformation, enrichment, and delivery within Siemens' data mesh architecture.
- Embed data quality and automation at the source (shift-left mentality) to ensure reliable, production-grade event-driven data products with clear SLAs and documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a data engineer focusing on data integration, ETL/ELT, and production data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka and stream-processing engines such as Flink, including stateful stream processing and schema registry management.
- Proficiency in Python and expert-level SQL; basic working knowledge of Java; experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and modern warehouses like Snowflake.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced operating within event-driven, real-time streaming architectures at scale, applying data-as-a-product principles with strong ownership of pipeline quality and SLAs.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with domain architects and analytics engineers to bridge operational source systems and analytical platforms.
- Practices DataOps rigor including CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, infrastructure-as-code, and proactive monitoring of streaming data pipelines.
