Job description
Structured overview of role & requirements
About This Role
- Own capacity and demand planning for data center and public cloud infrastructure, translating future demand into actionable capacity models and options.
- Engage cross-functional teams (engineering, product, business) to gather demand inputs and drive capacity and cost discussions with FinOps engineers.
- Facilitate planning cadence and escalate threshold issues early to support leadership's forecast, procurement, and investment decisions.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years practical infrastructure engineering or operations experience with senior-level technical depth and independent judgment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with minimum 4 hours overlap with US Eastern business day.
- Practical knowledge of virtualization, compute, storage performance, networks, and resilience; experience with VMware, Nutanix, Windows, or Linux platforms relevant.
- Ability to analyze telemetry and demand using Excel, SQL, Python or equivalent data tools; experience sizing workloads and validating against real production data.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in hands-on infrastructure operations with deep technical understanding of capacity, workload behavior, failure modes, and performance trade-offs.
- Skilled at translating complex multi-team demand into clear, defensible forecasts separating evidence, assumptions, uncertainty, and risks.
- Effective in facilitating and challenging stakeholder discussions on capacity and cost trade-offs, collaborating closely with FinOps without owning procurement or spend decisions.
