About This Role
- Build and deploy production-scale LLM applications and agent workflows supporting implementation, discovery, migration, and archive operations within ELLKAY's healthcare data platform.
- Implement complex agent behaviors including retrieval, tool integration, workflow state management, approvals, and automated evaluation, ensuring security and tenant data boundaries are maintained.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver reusable services with traceability, authorization-aware retrieval, and rigorous testing to meet stringent quality, cost, and latency targets.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years software/AI engineering experience including production LLM and backend services.
- Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, asynchronous programming, data handling, testing, and production debugging.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, embeddings, reranking, tool calling, and managing agent state with timeouts, retries, and approval checkpoints.
- Experience deploying cloud services with authorization-aware retrieval and handling protected health information (PHI) safely.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in designing and implementing complex LLM-driven agent workflows with operational constraints and tight quality controls.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams including product, clinical/data SMEs, QA, and security with emphasis on healthcare data compliance and multi-tenant architectures.
- Demonstrates ability to evaluate and improve retrieval relevance, grounded outputs, and operational metrics such as latency and cost per task using representative testing and production feedback.
