About This Role
- Lead architecture and development of scalable backend systems supporting international e-commerce transactions involving multiple countries, currencies, and regulations.
- Drive cross-team technical decisions, define service boundaries (APIs, BFF patterns) supporting iOS, Android, and web clients, and ensure platform scalability across regions.
- Own production reliability with standards for observability, incident response, and operational excellence while mentoring senior engineers and integrating AI-assisted engineering practices.
Minimum Requirements
- 10–12 years of software engineering experience including leadership of complex backend initiatives across multiple teams.
- Strong proficiency or ability to quickly gain proficiency in Go, including API design and testing.
- Deep expertise in distributed system design and operations, especially in cloud-native environments like Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
- Experience maintaining high-availability customer-facing systems (~99.95% uptime) and skilled in observability, incident management, and reliability engineering.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Senior backend engineer with substantial experience in global or cross-border e-commerce platforms involving payments, multi-currency, and multi-region systems.
- Technical leader capable of influencing multi-team architecture and engineering standards without formal authority, comfortable with strategic system design and hands-on delivery.
- Engineer familiar with or willing to adopt AI-assisted development tools and processes, collaborating across distributed teams in India and Japan and navigating complex regulatory environments.
