About This Role
- Lead architecture, design, and evolution of scalable, cloud-native backend systems and APIs for a big data lakehouse platform.
- Design, build, and own Python-based API services and optimize PostgreSQL relational database schemas including performance tuning and migration management.
- Own technical strategy and end-to-end delivery for reliability, scalability, performance, cost efficiency, CI/CD pipelines, and debugging across system boundaries in a complex data platform.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience building and scaling complex production systems.
- Hands-on experience with Python application/service development, RESTful API development and ownership (FastAPI, Flask, or equivalent).
- Strong relational database experience (PostgreSQL preferred) with schema design, query optimization, and migration tooling; experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Expertise in architecting and optimizing large-scale, cloud-native data platforms focused on Databricks and lakehouse analytics.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, incident-driven improvements, and enterprise SaaS security/compliance demands, preferably including FinOps or cloud cost optimization.
- Proven technical leadership working cross-functionally with architects, data scientists, and engineers, mentoring senior and junior engineers, and influencing engineering standards.
