Own and develop Mercari's observability platform including metrics, logs, traces, and alerting systems at scale for 500+ microservices.
Drive measurable improvements in Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Mitigate (MTTM) via AI-powered automated incident detection and response.
Lead technical decisions, mentor team members, and define observability standards and tooling to enable self-service for product engineering teams.
Minimum Requirements
9+ years experience in building, operating, and maintaining scalable production systems.
Strong expertise with observability and monitoring platforms like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana in production.
Hands-on proficiency with Kubernetes, Go or Python, cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Deep understanding of metrics, logging, distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, alerting systems and incident detection tuning.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experienced in large-scale observability for distributed microservices environments (>500 services).
Track record of improving MTTD and MTTM using AI technologies and automation in observability platforms.
Capable of leading technical direction, mentoring engineers, and advancing developer experience via self-service tooling and platform improvements.
