Senior Software Development Engineer

Design, build, and own scalable, reliable backend services and APIs supporting Expedia's lodging supply platform which handles millions of transactions per minute.

Lead technical design and delivery of complex multi-quarter initiatives across multiple domains related to shopping, booking, servicing, and claims systems.

Mentor engineers and drive best practices for code quality, security, performance, operational excellence, and AI/ML integration in production systems.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.

10+ years of professional backend software development experience in object-oriented languages such as Java or Kotlin.

Proven experience with end-to-end service/component delivery including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.

Hands-on expertise with AI/ML frameworks, cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), APIs, system design, and scalable/high-performance backend systems.

Experienced in designing and evolving high-traffic, distributed service architectures with clear API contracts and scalable data models.

Proven technical leadership driving tradeoffs in reliability, scalability, cost, and operational excellence across domains involving partner integrations or marketplace platforms.

Comfortable leading cross-team initiatives and applying AI/ML concepts responsibly in production-grade software environments.
