Principal Engineer - Target India

Lead architecture and engineering of scalable, production-grade Marketplace capabilities enabling growth and integration across Target enterprise systems.

Set technical strategy and direction for software and infrastructure engineering efforts, including AI-native solutions, with a focus on scalability, performance, and resilience.

Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain high-performing engineering teams and clear engineering standards.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field required; Master's degree preferred.

12+ years in technology development or services, ideally in product-led environments; retail or marketplace experience strongly preferred.

4+ years of experience in strategic planning and setting technical direction.

Deep hands-on experience with JVM technologies (Kotlin, Java), frameworks (Micronaut, Spring Boot), SQL/NoSQL, APIs, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies.

Proven leader in complex architecture evolution and technical maturity for large-scale distributed systems spanning organizational boundaries.

Strategic thinker capable of translating business vision into technical strategy with awareness of financial impacts.

Experience applying AI-enabled engineering practices and designing AI-native systems to create meaningful business and technical advantages.
