Sr. Symfony Engineer - PHP (Remote, Full-Time) [AR024]

Own backend development within a mature Symfony platform managing marketing and revenue data for enterprise customers.

Lead upgrade efforts from Symfony 6.1 to Symfony 7, resolving compatibility and legacy issues, and improve application scalability and maintainability.

Collaborate remotely within a cross-functional product squad, reviewing and critically assessing code including AI-generated code, ensuring secure, maintainable solutions with autonomy.

8+ years commercial software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in PHP and 3+ years advanced Symfony 6.x/7 experience.

5+ years advanced MySQL experience and experience with relational database schema design and optimization.

At least 1 year experience with Angular/TypeScript or similar frontend exposure; 3+ years automated testing with PHPUnit or equivalent.

Fluent English, ability to work UK hours, pass background checks, and comply with SOC 2, PII, and data protection requirements.

Senior-level engineer with a strong architectural mindset and hands-on development strength, capable of independent work within 2-3 months.

Experienced in backend system design, scalability, and security in complex legacy PHP applications with framework upgrades.

Comfortable critically reviewing AI-generated code, collaborating remotely with cross-functional teams across backend and frontend technology stacks.
