Software Development Engineer II -(Backend)

Design, build, and operate backend-heavy full-stack services for Expedia Group's Modern Checkout platform at global scale.

Own end-to-end delivery from requirements, low-level design, coding, testing, deployment to operational support of microservices in cloud-native environments.

Collaborate in decomposing legacy monoliths into reusable, brand-agnostic microservices and implement high-availability tier-zero checkout services with strict latency and reliability goals.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

2+ years of relevant professional experience in service or feature ownership covering full development lifecycle in cloud environments.

Strong coding, problem-solving, and analytical skills with solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and complexity.

Experience or knowledge of microservices architecture and cloud platforms like AWS is preferred but not mandatory; explicit experience in ownership of cloud-deployed services needed.

Experienced backend engineer capable of owning full-stack, backend-heavy services with end-to-end responsibility in high-scale production environments.

Comfortable working with modern cloud-native technologies and decomposing monolithic systems into microservices for global-scale, mission-critical platforms.

Proficient in applying AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency and operational excellence in service delivery.
