Software Development Engineer III

Design, build, and maintain Java backend microservices for core lodging reservation bookings, focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance.

Lead migration from legacy monoliths and stored procedures to Spring Boot microservices with API design, data modeling, and system ownership.

Own service components end-to-end in production, including deployment, monitoring (Datadog, Splunk), incident resolution, and integration of AI/ML-enabled tools for development efficiency.

6+ years professional experience in backend software development using Java in production environments.

Experience with backend service design including low-level design, API contracts, and relational database data modeling.

Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform (preferably AWS) for deploying and monitoring backend services at scale.

Experience owning backend components in production with monitoring and logging tools like Datadog or Splunk; familiarity with AI/ML concepts applied in backend service development.

Experienced in modernizing legacy monolithic systems into scalable Java Spring Boot microservices in a cloud environment.

Strong relational database skills including refactoring stored procedures and performance tuning.

Able to lead technical decisions, collaborate cross-functionally, and integrate AI/ML tools safely in backend development and operations.
