Investigate and perform deep root-cause analysis on complex software failures and performance issues across multiple system layers including application, network, database, and infrastructure.
Design, review, and execute performance test cases based on product architecture, customer workflows, and scalability goals, identifying bottlenecks or regressions and recommending corrective actions.
Develop diagnostic tools and maintain technical documentation; mentor engineers in systematic debugging and root-cause analysis.
Minimum Requirements
5+ years in software engineering, performance engineering, systems engineering, reliability engineering, or production troubleshooting, preferably in a product-based software company.
Programming and debugging proficiency in at least one major language such as Java, C++, C#, or Python.
Strong understanding of operating system concepts (processes, threads, memory, CPU, file I/O, sockets) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, latency, timeouts).
Experience creating, reviewing, and executing performance test cases and analyzing application logs, traces, profiling data, and network traffic.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experienced in diagnosing concurrency, latency, resource contention, and scalability issues with ability to connect performance findings to product behavior or code-level causes.
Operates with deep product knowledge including customer workflows and deployment models; approaches testing beyond black-box methods with curiosity and analytical rigor.
Capable of clear technical communication and collaboration with developers to identify true root causes, showing persistence and ownership in complex investigations.
