About This Role
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable, reliable backend systems for British Council products in collaboration with cross-functional agile teams.
- Deliver backend engineering projects adhering to technical specifications, quality standards, and milestones, focusing on performance, security, and stability.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand backend needs and ensure compliance with industry standards and data privacy, including implementing monitoring and logging for security.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in backend engineering with scalable, high-performance systems using languages like .Net, C#, PHP, NodeJS, or Python.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure), microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, relational and NoSQL databases, unit and integration testing.
- Must have CI/CD, Docker, git experience, and at least 6 months relevant backend development experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in implementing backend solutions within agile teams using best practices such as test-driven development and version control.
- Comfortable with cloud-based microservices and familiar with continuous integration/deployment tools, containerization, and backend performance optimization.
- Able to collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to deliver secure, compliant backend systems supporting user-focused digital services.
