Lead technical architecture and design of scalable, reliable backend services and platforms targeting international retail markets in Africa.

Mentor and manage engineering teams (10-15 engineers), ensuring technical clarity, unblocking complex issues, and delivering high-quality software at speed.
Minimum Requirements
12+ years hands-on software engineering with backend system design and proficiency in Java & Spring Boot.
3+ years managing engineering teams with ownership of technical delivery outcomes for 10-15 engineers.
Experience designing and operating cloud-native microservices on Microsoft Azure (AKS, Service Bus, Azure Functions, Cosmos DB).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with minimum 5 years experience or 7 years experience with 2 years supervisory experience; Master’s preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Deep expertise in distributed systems design including event-driven architectures, CAP theorem trade-offs, and failure handling at scale.
Experience leading greenfield platform builds and large-scale migrations in multi-timezone, distributed engineering environments.
Strong technical leadership ability to set engineering standards, raise the bar, and translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical plans.
