Own end-to-end technical migration of multiple on-prem Java Spring Boot services and Kafka workloads to AWS, including assessment, re-platforming, cutover, and stabilization.
Lead migration activities covering application upgrades, security re-architecture, containerization, data/state migration, and Kafka replication with zero data loss.
Implement infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and cost/security optimizations post-migration.
Minimum Requirements
8+ years building production back-end systems in Java; 5+ years with Spring Boot (2.x and 3.x).
5+ years hands-on Apache Kafka expertise including topic design, consumer groups, and operations.
3+ years AWS production delivery experience including prior full end-to-end on-prem to AWS migration of multiple services including Kafka.
Deep knowledge of AWS services (EKS/ECS, MSK, VPC, IAM, RDS/Aurora, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch) and infrastructure as code (Terraform or AWS CDK).
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experienced in handling complex migration scenarios with on-prem dependencies and hybrid solutions, balancing refactoring versus rehosting pragmatically.
Strong technical depth in modern Java (17/21), Spring Boot 3, Kafka client tuning, and AWS-native security/authentication.
Able to communicate effectively with multiple application and platform teams, producing clear runbooks, ADRs, and migration playbooks.
