Principal AI Engineer – API Modernization (AI & Agent Systems)

Lead modernization and refactoring of core APIs and platform interfaces to support AI-native workflows and automated consumers.

Define and enforce company-wide standards for AI-ready APIs covering schema, validation, versioning, observability, and operational safeguards.

Provide architectural leadership and guidance across engineering teams to develop scalable, resilient backend systems for high-concurrency automated AI integrations and orchestration.

10+ years of software engineering experience specializing in backend systems, distributed architecture, and platform engineering.

Proven track record of architecting and modernizing complex APIs and distributed systems at scale without operational disruption.

Expertise in API design including contracts, schema, deterministic behavior, validation, versioning, authentication, authorization, and observability.

Work location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India; hybrid work requiring 2-3 days per week onsite.

Experienced senior technical leader capable of driving cross-team architectural strategy and influencing multiple engineering organizations.

Strong systems thinker familiar with platform-wide impacts on AI agents, orchestration, and scalable machine-driven workflows.

Proven ability to balance ideal architectural modernization goals with practical delivery constraints in complex production environments.
