About This Role
- Own the design and evolution of backend platform APIs and event infrastructure that connect external systems to Toast and internal teams.
- Ensure delivery quality through best practices including integration/unit testing, production monitoring, and architecture/code reviews.
- Mentor engineers and lead technical decisions to scale backend systems and support new complex features in a SaaS product environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience building backend systems and APIs.
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or other object-oriented languages.
- Strong knowledge of AWS, microservices, distributed systems, enterprise messaging, and traditional databases.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in designing platform-level APIs emphasizing platform thinking over feature delivery.
- Capable of breaking down complex problems and delivering ergonomic solutions for developer-facing products.
- Comfortable working in a fast-scaling SaaS environment with distributed systems and message-based integrations.
