Data-driven signals on your job's competitivenessTier-1 employer, metro location, mid-level role; specialized networking reduces broad applicant competition.
Requires deep networking systems and C expertise, making candidates less transferable across industries.
Explicit 6-10 years plus mandatory strong C and networking systems expertise makes filters strict.
Job Description
Structured overview of role & requirementsAbout This Role
Design and develop common networking infrastructure components supporting multiple Layer-2 and Layer-3 protocols, focusing on shared frameworks rather than individual protocol stacks.
Develop high-performance, low-latency system software in C, optimizing data structures for packet processing, routing, forwarding databases, and control-plane infrastructure.
Collaborate with protocol teams and cross-functional groups to deliver scalable and reliable networking solutions across the full product lifecycle, including troubleshooting complex system-level issues.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electronics and Communication Engineering.
6 to 10 years of hands-on experience in networking or systems product development.
Strong expertise in C programming with practical experience in optimized code, memory management, and performance tuning.
Onsite work primarily from an HPE office is mandatory.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experienced with networking protocols such as OSPF, BGP, ISIS, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, and VPN technologies, with a system engineering and product development focus rather than protocol stack implementation.
Proven ability to design and optimize scalable data structures and frameworks for networking systems, indicating a strong foundation in data structures and algorithms.
Comfortable working across product lifecycle phases with cross-team collaboration, owning technical components at a system level with focus on performance and reliability.
