About This Role
- Lead technical development and architecture reviews for scalable data platforms, backend systems, and data pipelines supporting Mastercard’s Portfolio Intelligence products.
- Manage and coordinate a team of Data Engineering contractors, focusing on delivery outcomes, onboarding, and performance oversight, while planning transition to a blended full-time and contractor team.
- Partner with product and program teams to ensure predictable delivery of complex initiatives and drive engineering best practices including AI-assisted development, automation, and CI/CD.
Minimum Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with recent hands-on production system design and development.
- 2+ years of engineering leadership or people management experience, including leading contractor or distributed engineering teams.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Scala or similar; experience with distributed data processing technologies like Spark, and data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Hadoop.
- Experience designing scalable data pipelines, backend platforms, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Recent practitioner with strong technical depth capable of reviewing architecture and code, and applying modern engineering practices.
- Experienced in leading and managing contractor teams effectively without solely relying on formal reporting structures.
- Familiar with AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve engineering velocity and delivery quality.
