Lead technical development and architecture reviews for scalable data platforms, backend systems, and data pipelines supporting Mastercard’s Portfolio Intelligence products.
Manage and coordinate a team of Data Engineering contractors, focusing on delivery outcomes, onboarding, and performance oversight, while planning transition to a blended full-time and contractor team.
Partner with product and program teams to ensure predictable delivery of complex initiatives and drive engineering best practices including AI-assisted development, automation, and CI/CD.
Minimum Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience with recent hands-on production system design and development.
2+ years of engineering leadership or people management experience, including leading contractor or distributed engineering teams.
Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Scala or similar; experience with distributed data processing technologies like Spark, and data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Hadoop.
Experience designing scalable data pipelines, backend platforms, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Ideal Candidate Profile
Recent practitioner with strong technical depth capable of reviewing architecture and code, and applying modern engineering practices.
Experienced in leading and managing contractor teams effectively without solely relying on formal reporting structures.
Familiar with AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve engineering velocity and delivery quality.
