About This Role
- Lead hands-on design and development of a developer tooling solution to modernise legacy applications using Moderne and OpenRewrite.
- Build and maintain custom OpenRewrite recipes (Java) for automated refactoring across multiple codebases.
- Provide technical leadership via design and code reviews, mentoring, setting standards, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams to drive adoption and measurable outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- 10 to 14 years experience with a degree in Computer Science / IT or related discipline.
- Strong full stack engineering skills with modern Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Vert.x, Helidon) and UI/build tools (Angular, Node.js, Maven, Gradle).
- Hands-on experience with OpenRewrite and large-scale codebase modernisation, including custom recipe design and authoring.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB), database design, and analytics style use cases.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced technical lead comfortable influencing design direction and guiding engineers across teams.
- Strong engineering fundamentals applying SOLID and architectural principles to maintainable, well-tested code.
- Familiar with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins CI/CD) and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana), with scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Groovy.
