Software Development Engineer II, AWS OpenSearch

Design, develop, and support the AWS OpenSearch platform managing thousands of search domains, focusing on scalability, performance, and cost trade-offs in a cloud environment.

Contribute to both open source OpenSearch codebase and AWS managed service platform components.

Collaborate with senior engineers and dedicated operations team to ensure 24x7 smooth operation and continuous optimization of distributed systems.

3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).

2+ years of experience in system design or architecture (reliability, scaling, design patterns).

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred but not strictly mandatory).

Full software development life cycle experience including coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and operations (preferred).

Experienced in building large-scale, high-performance distributed systems with attention to scalability and robustness in cloud environments.

Comfortable working in collaborative, agile teams with exposure to both open source and managed service platforms.

Able to apply scientific analysis and mathematical modeling to improve platform design and performance.
