About This Role
- Design, develop, test, and operate critical components of large-scale distributed database platforms supporting eBay’s global marketplace.
- Take end-to-end ownership of significant features including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Solve complex engineering problems related to scalability, availability, performance, consistency, and operational efficiency in distributed systems.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years experience in building large-scale software systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with distributed systems, databases, storage systems, or large-scale data infrastructure.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, or Scala and ability to develop/debug production software.
- Work Experience Required: 6+ years with Master’s or 8+ years with Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in distributed systems architecture including replication, consistency, fault tolerance, and consensus protocols like RAFT/PAXOS.
- Proven ability to independently own and deliver significant software components end-to-end with strong engineering discipline.
- Comfortable working in globally distributed teams collaborating asynchronously and synchronously across multiple geographies.
