About This Role
- Own and drive major technical initiatives for eBay's distributed database platforms, including architecture, design, implementation, and operational rollout.
- Hands-on development of critical distributed database components, addressing complex problems in storage, transactions, replication, consensus, geo-distribution, and concurrency.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the Bengaluru engineering team, collaborating globally with peers and engaging directly with platform customers to ensure platform meets evolving needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of experience OR PhD with equivalent experience in large-scale distributed systems.
- Significant hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed databases or storage systems with ownership of complex technical initiatives.
- Strong expertise in distributed systems concepts (consensus protocols RAFT/PAXOS, replication, fault tolerance, geo-distribution) and database internals (WAL, MVCC, transaction management).
- Proficiency in advanced programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, or Scala and experience with modern infrastructure technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
