About This Role
- Own technical translation of weather forecast model capabilities, limitations, and uncertainties for internal teams and government partners.
- Synthesize and communicate complex scientific data (forecast models, agronomic research, MEL data) into accessible reports and policy briefs.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication ensuring technical realities of forecasting inform program and policy decisions.
Minimum Requirements
- 4-6 years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics, mathematics/statistics, computational science, engineering, economics with quantitative focus, or equivalent with strong quantitative training.
- Proficiency in Python or R mandatory; experience with data pipelines, cloud workflows, or geospatial tools preferred.
- Strong foundational knowledge of ensemble modeling, probabilistic forecasting, forecast skill metrics, and model uncertainties.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in translating technical meteorological and forecasting concepts to non-specialist audiences including policymakers.
- Comfortable working at the intersection of meteorology, program delivery, and policy with both technical teams and government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex workstreams with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
