About This Role
- Lead and deliver moderately complex technical initiatives within the software engineering domain, including oversight of technical challenges and issue resolution.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members and act as escalation point for the team.
- Design, develop, test, debug, document, and deploy software applications, contributing to sprint planning and following architectural and operational best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- 4+ years of software engineering experience (work experience, training, military experience, or education).
- Proficiency with COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, DB2, VSAM, and Z/OS Connect, with 4+ years experience preferred.
- Experience in HOGAN, preferably in IDS, and working knowledge of mainframe utilities and debugging tools (e.g., Sort, REXX, IBM Debugger).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and familiarity with mainframe automation, CI/CD, and DevOps frameworks preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in mainframe software engineering environments with strong expertise in COBOL and associated tools.
- Capable of leading moderately complex projects and mentoring junior engineers, indicating mid-senior technical leadership.
- Familiarity with automation and modern development tools on mainframes along with recent technology trends such as AI coding agents for productivity improvements.
