Niche HIL/Simulink specialization limits applicants, but seniority and corporate visibility increase candidate interest.
Technical HIL and control skills transfer to automotive and industrial sectors, but rail-specific system knowledge is preferred.
Explicit 8+ years plus mandatory HIL platforms, Simulink, LabVIEW, RTOS and toolchain requirements enforce strict filtering.
Lead development, integration, and validation of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation solutions for locomotive control systems.
Develop physics-based plant models using MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, and Stateflow for traction, auxiliary power, engine, train control, and trip optimizer functions.
Support HIL platform integration, automated testing environments, real-time code deployment, and cross-functional collaboration.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control Systems, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 8+ years of experience in real-time embedded systems and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) design, development, integration, and validation.
Hands-on experience with COTS HIL platforms such as Concurrent Real-Time, OPAL-RT, or NI PXI.
Strong expertise in MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, Stateflow, and Model-Based Design (MBD) workflows including MIL/SIL and automated testing.
Experienced technical leader comfortable managing complex simulation model development and validation across multiple propulsion and control systems.
Proficient in integrating real-time code on HIL platforms and developing automated test frameworks and data analysis scripts (MATLAB, Python).
Strong understanding of embedded control systems, real-time OS, industrial communication protocols, and electrical schematics relevant to locomotive and propulsion systems.
