Develop and execute detailed control system designs for diesel electric, battery electric, and hybrid diesel-battery locomotive traction and auxiliary power subsystems.
Integrate control modules with hardware components to meet performance requirements including propulsion batteries, inverters, motors, alternators, and manage power flow for traction and auxiliary functions.
Conduct validation and testing at multiple levels including desktop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop testing, locomotive validation, and customer acceptance testing.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Power Electronics Engineering discipline.
Demonstrated project experience in control engineering developments.
Willingness and ability to support hardware-in-the-loop simulations and on-locomotive testing and validation.
Ability and willingness to travel as required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experienced in control system integration for electric or hybrid locomotive powertrain components, including battery management and traction control.
Familiar with design tools like Matlab/Simulink, and requirements management tools such as DOORS.
Knowledge of power electronics, rotating electric machines, and transportation auxiliary or traction systems to drive effective design and problem resolution.
