About This Role
- Design, build, and own end-to-end delivery of scalable advertising and marketing platform features to help sellers and advertisers grow their business on eBay.
- Develop backend services, applications, and APIs using Java 17+, Spring Boot or similar, and work on distributed, event-driven architectures with associated databases and big data technologies.
- Drive technical decisions, system design, cross-team collaboration, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance software delivery and overall engineering productivity.
Minimum Requirements
- 10+ years of work experience with a BS/BA in Computer Science or related field, or MS with 10 years relevant experience.
- Strong expertise in Java 17+ and Spring Boot or similar frameworks for backend service development.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar), and databases (relational and/or NoSQL).
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and practices; experience with AI-powered feature development or LLM integrations is a plus but not mandatory.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced in owning technical design and architecture decisions for complex, multi-service backend features in a high-scale ecommerce environment.
- Skilled at balancing trade-offs in distributed system design such as consistency, availability, latency, and cost with proven track record of driving alignment across teams.
- Comfortable leveraging AI-assisted coding tools and collaborating with ML engineers on AI-powered solutions integrated into production.
