Mid-level metro role with broad skill requirements increases competition but specialized performance focus limits applicant density.
Skills transferable across software products but require deep systems and performance engineering experience.
Explicit 5+ years and deep systems, networking, and performance expertise make shortlisting highly selective.
Investigate and perform deep root-cause analysis of complex software failures and performance issues across application, system, network, database, and infrastructure layers.
Design, create, review, and execute Performance Test Cases; analyze results to identify bottlenecks or regressions and communicate findings with recommendations.
Develop diagnostic tools/scripts; mentor engineers in systematic debugging; maintain internal technical documentation and troubleshooting methodologies.
5+ years in software engineering, performance engineering, systems engineering, reliability engineering, production troubleshooting, or related discipline in a product-based software company.
Proficiency in at least one programming/debugging language such as Java, C++, C#, or Python with strong code reading skills.
Strong understanding of OS concepts (processes, threads, memory, CPU, I/O, sockets, synchronization) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, latency, retransmissions).
Experience analyzing logs, traces, application profiling, performance test case creation/review/execution, diagnosing concurrency, latency, and scalability issues.
Experienced in troubleshooting complex software systems with ability to form and validate hypotheses systematically.
Comfortable working deeply with product architecture and customer workflows rather than black-box testing.
Skilled at correlating technical evidence across distributed systems and collaborating with development teams to identify true root causes professionally.
