Niche embedded firmware and PLC expertise reduces qualified applicant density despite mid-level seniority.
Specialized embedded firmware, industrial automation, and PLC integration make cross-industry transferability low.
Explicit 5+ years, mandatory embedded C/C++, RTOS, hardware and PLC integration indicate high filtering on skills and experience.
Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware and low-level software for microcontroller- and processor-based industrial control systems using C/C++.
Integrate embedded controllers with PLCs, industrial networks, and peripherals; support hardware bring-up, system integration, and field/manufacturing issue resolution through root-cause analysis.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, perform unit and system-level testing, and support product development from concept through manufacturing and sustaining engineering.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of professional experience in embedded software or firmware development.
Strong programming skills in C and C++ for embedded systems, including RTOS concepts, interrupts, concurrency, and real-time constraints.
Experience with low-level drivers, peripheral interfaces (SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, RS-485), embedded hardware debug tools, and industrial communication protocol integration.
Experienced embedded engineer with demonstrated ability to translate product requirements into reliable firmware and system-level solutions in industrial or semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver complex embedded control products.
Practical knowledge of PLC integration, hardware bring-up, root-cause analysis, and sustaining engineering in high-reliability settings, with attention to documentation, testing, and risk management.
