Mid-level popular backend role with metro presence and brand, but satellite/O-RAN specialization narrows the pool.
Core cloud-native backend skills are transferable, but satellite and O-RAN domain knowledge raises specialization requirements.
Explicit 6-10 years plus mandatory cloud-native, Kubernetes, Golang/Python, and event-streaming expertise increases filtering rigor.
Own end-to-end development and system integration of AI native, cloud-hosted intelligent RAN applications for Viasat's Low Earth Orbit satellite network based on 3GPP NTN and O-RAN frameworks.
Design and implement architecture focusing on scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability of distributed microservices-based applications interfacing with network components like DU, CU, RIC, SMO.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, test plans, and support production and lab environments for RAN applications.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
6-10 years hands-on experience building and operating large-scale cloud-native, microservices-based, event-driven distributed applications.
Strong programming skills in Golang or Python; experience with Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, Kafka or equivalent event streaming technologies.
Experience with public cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS), CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI), and deployment automation tools (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, CloudFormation).
Experienced in distributed systems architecture emphasizing scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability in cloud-native environments.
Knowledgeable in O-RAN specifications and development of rApps/xApps for satellite or terrestrial wireless systems.
Proven ability to autonomously develop, deploy, and maintain complex event-driven, data-intensive applications interfacing with telecommunications network components.
