About This Role
- Lead the design and implementation of a large language model (LLM) framework to support diverse applications across Avalara.
- Own the end-to-end development lifecycle including conceptualization, prototyping, delivery, and ensuring system scalability, performance, and accuracy.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead code review sessions to maintain high-quality code and documentation standards.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience in software development and building/deploying machine learning models in production.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with other programming languages; experience with LLMs such as GPT, Claude, LLama, or Bedrock models.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), machine learning frameworks, CI/CD practices, and software development best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven ability to lead development of large-scale AI/ML platforms focusing on LLMs and GenAI applications.
- Strong software engineering background with experience in scalable, performant, and accurate ML systems.
- Experienced mentor and reviewer capable of fostering code quality and collaboration within engineering teams.
