Tier-1 employer and broad industrial skillset increase competition, while niche OT PLC/SCADA specialization limits applicants.
High—industrial automation, PLC/SCADA, and regulated-software expertise is domain-specific and hard to transfer.
Extensive mandatory PLC/SCADA, protocol, regulatory, and OT-specific skills create strict shortlisting filters.
Develop and maintain Industrial Control Systems and Operational Technology for production and R&D environments, focusing on PLC programming and SCADA/HMI development.
Design, commission, troubleshoot, and improve automation systems using platforms like Siemens TIA Portal, CODESYS, Rockwell Studio, and SCADA tools such as Siemens WinCC and FactoryTalk View.
Implement and integrate industrial communication protocols, DCS solutions, and software engineering practices including RESTful APIs, virtualization, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies in automated industrial environments.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics, Electrical, Automation, or related technical field.
Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in developing Industrial Control Systems and OT technologies, specifically in production or R&D environments including lab automation.
Proficiency in PLC programming platforms (Siemens TIA Portal preferred) and SCADA/HMI platforms (Siemens WinCC preferred).
Experience with industrial communication protocols (OPC DA/UA, MODBUS, Ethernet/IP, Profinet) and familiarity with Distributed Control Systems like Delta-V or Siemens PCS.
Experienced in R&D or laboratory automation with a strong background in commissioning and troubleshooting physical automation systems.
Skilled in modern software development practices including RESTful API development, containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Nexus frameworks applied to industrial automation.
Knowledgeable of industry standards and regulatory guidelines such as ISA-88/95/99, GAMP 5, FDA software lifecycle, and capable of working with advanced technologies such as AI/ML integration, Infrastructure as Code, and enterprise monitoring tools.
