Remote, mid-level generalist DevOps role in a metro market with broad skills attracts many applicants.
Core DevOps skills transfer across industries, though SaaS multi-tenant and identity-security context increases domain specificity.
Multiple mandatory cloud, on-call, language, and production database requirements enforce high shortlisting strictness.
Automate high-frequency manual operational runbooks using Python and TypeScript in a production environment, focusing on event-driven architecture and AWS services like Lambda and EventBridge.
Support and maintain core database and streaming platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka) ensuring high availability and reliability, including participation in on-call rotations.
Own and lead the automation roadmap for the Data Infrastructure team to reduce repetitive operational tasks by at least 50% within one year, collaborating with SRE, Security, and product teams.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building or operating production systems in SaaS or cloud environments.
Strong programming skills in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript with end-to-end service ownership experience.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure (Lambda, EventBridge, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail) and managing production databases/distributed data stores (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, Kafka).
Experienced in 24x7 production operations with on-call responsibilities in highly available SaaS/cloud environments, with a strong security mindset focusing on least-privilege IAM and blast-radius analysis.
Proficient in building event-driven, self-healing automations and integrating LLM-augmented development tools like Cursor and Claude with appropriate code review processes.
Comfortable operating autonomously in globally distributed teams, collaborating effectively across time zones, and owning CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
