Cisco brand and Bangalore location increase applicant density, but senior embedded specialization limits competition.
Niche embedded, kernel, and networking hardware expertise makes skills less transferable across industries.
Explicit 10+ years and mandatory kernel/device-driver and Linux hardware bring-up skills create strict shortlisting filters.
Design, develop, and test Board Support Packages (BSP) and Diagnostics for Cisco Core and Edge routing products.
Develop kernel and user space device drivers for FPGA and networking peripherals, including multi-threading and event handling.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug prototypes, validate software, and execute software test plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 10+ years experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years experience.
Proficient in C, C++, and Python programming languages.
Strong background in hardware and device driver development, including Linux hardware bring-up, multi-threading, event handling, and state machine implementation.
Experience developing and debugging embedded systems and device drivers for protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and/or GPIO.
Senior engineer experienced in embedded software development with a focus on device drivers and Linux BSP for networking hardware.
Comfortable working on complex hardware-software integration for large-scale, high-speed networking devices including FPGA and peripherals.
Experienced in collaborative system design, debugging kernel modules, and validation processes in cross-functional team environments.
